![]() I feel like the concept of balance has become this elusive fantasy we all strive for. It is something we want but is perpetually out of reach. The balance between work and home, having a social life and being a parent, being healthy and indulgent. When we focus entirely on one area of our lives, even momentarily, we often experience guilt that we are ignoring our other areas of responsibility. With Saturday’s New Moon in the balanced and harmonious sign of Libra, it is without a doubt going to be an area of focus, and perhaps a gentler, more realistic understanding of balance can be found. What is a New Moon? When the moon is New, it has gone from total darkness, to showing the very first sliver of light. This light represents starting fresh, the first bud to break the soil in the spring, an opportunity for new beginning each and every month. We choose to set intentions during the New Moon as it offers us a clean slate for creation and a great chance to reset priorities. How does the sign of Libra affect the New Moon? Each month the New Moon will correspond with the astrological sign it appears in, thus changing the energy and invitation of that New Moon. Having just shifted from Virgo to Libra at the beginning of this week, we are moving from a sign of high productivity to a sign of balanced harmony. Libra brings conscious awareness to all we care about. It is about bringing the various areas of our life into one harmonious picture, with an emphasis on who is most important to us. While Libra does promote balance, it is more about seeking clarity of WHAT you wish to bring into balance. Is there anything on your proverbial scale that is weighing you down or crowding out other priorities? The intentions you set for this moon cycle should focus on elevating what you love and releasing what you don’t. Libra is also known to have a strong focus on relationships. You might find that all your relationships, romantic and platonic, feel like they are under a microscope this week. Take this opportunity for illumination and be willing to be honest about what is working and not working. If you are single, this is a wonderful time to journal or daydream about exactly who you are looking to call in. Make sure to prioritize the qualities that feel sustainable for a long-term relationship as Libra has no time for flings. How do I harness the energy of this New Moon? New Moon rituals can be quick and powerful. My favorite thing to do is sit down with my journal and free write for 10-20 minutes to get clear on how I am feeling. Then I light a candle to call in focus and on a loose piece of paper, I write my 3-5 intentions for the moon cycle ahead. Then I meditate with the intent of seeing these intentions coming to fruition. Once I feel connected to this process, I place the written intentions somewhere special, could be under a mattress or in a box designated for this purpose. The most important part of setting intentions is really believing that they can and will happen. What else can I do to work with Moon Energy? On the first Sunday of each month, I host a Moon Circle for Women at Shilo Farm. We will gather together to honor the changing cycles of the moon and the cycles within ourselves. During our time together, we will deepen our inner wisdom through connection, discussion, journaling, movement, meditation, and a sprinkling of magic. Follow the link below to find out more and to register for the next Moon Circle, which is Sunday October 6, 2019.
